Cynthia Moore has been a mental health advocate since 1985. She volunteered and began studying rational emotive therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy to lead support groups for women experiencing domestic abuse at The Catholic Women's Society.
An empath possesses the remarkable ability to perceive others, connect with their emotions, and create a safe, nurturing environment for change talk and emotional healing. This profound capacity for empathy along with motivational interviewing techniques, is a gift and has been a critical component of her work. This has resulted in countless successes and positive outcomes. Clients receive guidance to discover how their unhelpful thoughts have been affecting their behaviour and undermining their chances of success in recovery.
Cynthia's personal experiences with mental health and addiction as a trauma survivor have strengthened her ability to form meaningful connections with her clients. In her practice, vulnerability is met with acceptance and understanding.
Her commitment to community service has been nothing short of extraordinary. From 2012 to 2025, she served as the SMART Recovery Regional Coordinator for Ontario, where she launched the SMART program in Toronto. With great passion for the work, she wholeheartedly dedicated herself to facilitating over 850 support meetings, mentoring team members, and managing partnerships that helped lead these meetings for SMART Recovery in Canada.
Cynthia has witnessed countless lives transform and keeps in touch with her clients after they graduate from the work. Her personal approach when facilitating groups and positive reinforcement techniques provide a profound sense of belonging, reminding everyone that they are never alone as they work together on their recovery.
When we are guided with genuine kindness and compassion, it is possible to reclaim our lives as we embrace a brighter future.
